About CMC:

Sodium carboxymethylcellulose CMC white or light yellow fibrous powder, odorless and tasteless, hygroscopic, used for ice cream to improve water retention and tissue structure, foam stability of beer Content: 99

Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, (also known as: carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt, carboxymethyl cellulose, CMC, Carboxymethyl, Cellulose Sodium, Sodium salt of Caboxy Methyl Cellulose) is a widely used and large amount of cellulose in the world today

Main uses: used as a thickener in the food industry, as a drug carrier in the pharmaceutical industry, and as a binder and anti-reconcipitator in the daily chemical industry. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a sizing agent and a protective colloid for printing paste. It can be used as a component of oil production fracturing fluid in petrochemical industry

This product has the functions of bonding, thickening, strengthening, emulsifying, water retention, and suspension.

Application of CMC in food

The FAO and WHO have approved the use of pure CMC in food after rigorous biological and toxicological studies and trials, with a standard intake (ADI) of 25 mg/(kg · d), or about 1.5 g/d per person. It has been reported that there were no toxic reactions at an intake of 10 kg. CMC is not only an emulsion stabilizer and thickener in food applications, but also has freezing and melting stability, and can improve the flavor of the product and prolong the storage time. The dosage in soy milk, ice cream, ice cream, jelly, beverages, and canned food is about 1 1.5. CMC can also form a stable emulsified dispersion with vinegar, soy sauce, vegetable oil, fruit juice, gravy, vegetable juice, etc., with a dosage of 0.2 0.5. In particular, the emulsifying performance of animal and vegetable oils, proteins and aqueous solutions is excellent, which can make it form a homogeneous emulsion with stable properties. Therefore, its dosage is not limited by the national food hygiene standard ADI. CMC continues to be developed in the food sector, and research into the use of sodium carboxymethylcellulose in wine production has also been carried out.

CMC in other industrial applications

In detergents, CMC can be used as an anti-fouling redeposition agent, especially for hydrophobic synthetic fiber fabrics, which is significantly better than carboxymethyl fibers.

CMC can be used as a mud stabilizer and water retention agent in oil drilling to protect oil wells, with a dosage of 2.3t for shallow wells and 5.6t for deep wells.

In the textile industry, it is used as a sizing agent, a thickener for printing and dyeing pulp, textile printing and stiffening. The sizing agent can improve the solubility and viscosity, and is easy to desizing; As a stiffening finishing agent, its dosage is above 95; For sizing agent, the strength and bendability of the slurry film are significantly improved; The glucose biosensor made of a composite membrane composed of regenerated silk heart protein and carboxymethyl cellulose was used as the substrate for fixing glucose oxidase, and the glucose oxidase and ferrocene carboxylate were immobilized, and the glucose biosensor was highly sensitive and stable. The results show that when silica gel homogenate is prepared with a concentration of about 1 (w/v), the chromatographic performance of the prepared thin layer plate is good, and at the same time, the thin layer plate coated under optimized conditions has appropriate layer strength, which is suitable for various filling techniques and is convenient for operation. CMC is adhesive to most fibers, which can improve the bonding between fibers, and the stability of its viscosity ensures the uniformity of sizing, thereby improving the efficiency of weaving. It can also be used as a finishing agent for textiles, especially for permanent anti-wrinkle finishing, which brings a change in durability to the fabric.

CMC can be used as an anti-settling agent, emulsifier, dispersant, leveling agent and adhesive for coatings, which can make the solid parts of coatings evenly distributed in the solvent, so that the coatings do not delaminate for a long time, and are also widely used in paints.

CMC is more effective than sodium gluconate in removing calcium ions when used as a flocculant, and its exchange capacity can reach 1.6 ml/g when used as a cation exchange.

CMC is used as a paper sizing agent in the paper industry, which can significantly improve the dry and wet strength of the paper, as well as the oil resistance, ink absorption and water resistance.

CMC is used as a hydrosol in cosmetics and as a thickener in toothpaste, and its dosage is around 5.

CMC can be used as flocculant, chelating agent, emulsifier, thickener, water retention agent, sizing agent, film-forming material, etc., and is also widely used in electronics, pesticides, leather, plastics, printing, ceramics, toothpaste, daily chemicals and other fields, and because of its excellent performance and wide range of uses, it is constantly exploring new application fields, and the market prospect is extremely broad.
